A design wonder hidden among the penthouses of downtown Beirut, Stereo Kitchen is a modern visual wonder created by architect Paul Kaloustian. A Harvard alum that later worked at the Basel office of Herzon de Meuron, Kaloustian creates a circular glass pavilion containing a working kitchen and bar with views of the Beirut skyline and bustling port. Elements of raw concrete and false metal ceiling give the illusion of volume and space with a spare décor of mostly natural wood tables, chairs and modernist stools that define a dining room and semi-circular lounge bar.
The Food
Once the conversation about the space ends, a menu by chef Fouad Kassab yields a locally infused modern Lebanese menu of small plate appetizers from traditional mezzas to more elaborate seafood and terrine of foie gras presentations. Main course varies from land and sea with grilled meats, seafood and vegetarian minded pasta dishes served late nights on weekends.
